Proto-Algic (c. 5,000 BCE – 3,000 BCE) is the reconstructed ancestor of the Algic language family, with 13 descendant languages and stages on the map.

Reconstructed ancestor of Algic: Algonquian plus the Californian languages Wiyot and Yurok. Sapir proposed the family (1913) and Haas confirmed it (1958); the homeland is probably on the Columbia Plateau. Dating is very uncertain.
